Dirk Langer is Senior Technical Expert, at Continental Corporation, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems working on the development of Lidar camera systems. Previously he was Senior Engineer at Volkswagen Group of America Electronics Research Lab with responsibilities in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Sensor Technologies, Autonomous Driving and was involved in the DARPA Urban Challenge Project. He has also been involved with Laser Scanning Technology and related hardware and software solutions for more than 25 years and previously held the position of CEO of Z+F USA. In this role, he was responsible for the US operations of Zoller+Froehlich, an internationally known company in this area. He has a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University Munich in Germany and a Ph.D. in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Before joining Z+F in 1998, he held research positions at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University and was involved in a variety of projects ranging from autonomous vehicle navigation to the design and development of radar and laser imaging systems.
